Do editors from major fashion magazines (vogue, etc.) get store & designer discounts?

Do editors who work at major fashion magazines like Vogue, Harper’s Bazaar, etc. get store discounts & designer discounts? I’ve read in some places that they do get 10-30 % off some designers and stores. Also do the editors get lots of freebies (shoes, clothes, bags, etc.) & lots of party invites? Do they get to meet and befriend famous designers? Is the lifestyle glamorous? I would just like to find out a little more about this career field since I am considering pursuing it once I get out of high school! Thanks!

I know you’ve heard about all the political favors being sold. It’s the same in business, only worse. As an editor you control what stories are printed. Which ads, and their location in each issue. As such: Yes you’ll get invited to big time events, and given nice things to influence you. Pick a good journalism school! You don’t become an editor immediately, you have to work for it.

no they dont, the only thing that makes them lucky to grab discounts, special souvenirs, samples, parties are because they work their way into popularity by making friends with the right people, people who knows people. I know editors, I know those who are ‘lucky’ and those who are ‘not so lucky’, the only difference is the eagerness to have good social network.
