Whats with all these cheap magazines and soap operas on tv? Is this just women being silly?
Their as appealing to women as sports magazines are to men.
I’m not saying sports are bad but the hype about them is overrated. If one can argue sports can build character/health, then soap operas teach social standards and communication.
Of course, not all men or women are into these things but generalizing all women as fans of those shows is too simple.

I agree…i can’t stand soap operas with their far flung stories..they are stupid..my mum loves them and when i’m at home i’m forced to watch them..such a waste of time!

the "dumbing down" of our society, thats what it is. Decent TV programmes replaced with Skinniest Celebrity countdowns and the worlds hunkiest firemen. Decent magazines replaced with gossip and celebrity rags. They don’t want us to use our brains!

I am not quite sure i understand the question, so you might not understand my answer, but from an foreigners veiwpoint…when I went to Romania on a missions trip, they told us that the Romanian women watch the soaps and think thats thats the way American women dress and act, so all the Romanina women had their belly showing and the Romanian men thought us American Women were loose and not religious, so we always had to have a male person with us, just incase. MTV didn’t do much for us female women in Romania either, thanks MTV, you make us women look like crap!

Funny a lot of women think the same about male sports on tv and magazines. Of course real life issues which often appear in what you refer to are just silly but someone kicking a ball is really informative and entertaining???
