What are some books (preferably cheap ones) to have on hand for visual inspiration?

What are some good, cheap books (or maybe magazines or other visual resources) to have on hand for visual inspiration when embarking on a new art project?

What about postcards? A lot of artists hang postcards in their studios, cards of other paintings, locations, interesting objects, etc.

"The Art Book" published by Phaidon…there is a small one, that’s the one I have…also going to the museum always inspires me and that’s free

I really, really enjoy a book called "America 24/7" It is a book that shows Americans during every day life, but some of the pictures are truely amazing and inspiring.

National Geographic is a good one, too. You might be able to buy used copies at the library for 5 cents.

First, go to a library’s bookstore or another used book store to handle the cheap concern.

Next, check out MC Escher’s books. Excellent illustrations and other mediums of artwork, many are surreal.

    Have fun and good luck!
