I'm a magazine publishers as well as an avid reader, so hopefully I can give you a balanced perspective.

As a reader I don't like digital editions; I far prefer the print editions. There's something real and intimate about holding a real magazine in your hands, and while digital editions are increasing in popularity I think their still far from being reader-friendly.

Many publishers offer both options, and you'll see more doing so in the future, especially with the increase in paper and print costs during the last 12 months.

Advertisers love digital editions because their magazine advertising can be far more interactive and the results are instantly measurable (number of clicks, for example).

I think there will always be versions of printed magazines because a significant number of people just don't like them.

I hope this helps.
