I need some help with UK fashion magazines?

Posted on November 26th, 2009 by admin in fashion magazines | 2 Comments »

I was wondering which fashion magazines have unique and different editorial spreads in them and show vintage garments. Does anyone know any?

Hmm, I suppose they all dabble in vintage editorial. Elle, InStyle, Grazia, Look, Red…

There’s Look magazine showcases new online shops in their Click n Shop section.

You could try investigating other vintage brands to see where they have been advertised/written about.

How do you thank a magazine editor for including your business?

Posted on November 26th, 2009 by admin in magazine | 2 Comments »

As a wedding related business owner, I’m wondering what other wedding vendors do to thank a magazine editor who includes their business in one of their magazines. A written thank you note doesn’t seem enough, but something bigger may appear like I’m kissing butt or trying too hard.

So, how would you thank a magazine editor for including your business within an issue?

Send a HANDWRITTEN thank you on a notecard. That’s plenty and would be well appreciated.

Best discount for international plane tickets

Posted on November 26th, 2009 by admin in discount magazines | 3 Comments »

Where can i find the best deal for booking and buying international and or local flight tickets online? Yes ive heard of expedia, orbitz, travelocity etc but im sure theres one that stands out from everybody else. Money magazine listed one company online that did it at a good price by being a paid member or something i cant remember. anyone? thanks
or maybe it might be from kiplinger magazine few months back

It sounds like Cfares.net. No single source will always be cheapest every time. I like http://www.bookingbuddy.com because with just 1 input of cities and dates, you can search Cfares, Kayak, Orbitz, Cheaptickets, airlines direct, consolidators, aggregators, site-scrapers, Hotwire, Priceline, etc. etc. — each with just 1 click. It’s a huge time-saver, and gives you a very quick and very thorough price search. It, like the others, does NOT check many low-cost airlines which do not participate in other booking sites; so, you have to check low cost airlines like Southwest, Allegiant, Ryanair, etc. individually.

How have magazines portrayed gender identity in the contemporary world?

Posted on November 26th, 2009 by admin in magazines | 2 Comments »

I have to write an essay on how discourse analysis in magazines reveals the construction of gender identity in todays world….any help or tips would be greatly appreciated.

I have written a couple articles related to gender roles and gender identity. If you want to take a chance to read them they might help you understand your assignment better.

In magazines, what stands out in my mind is the pictures, more than the text. I would go purchase a mens magazine, i.e. GQ, playboy, maxim, car magazine, or something along those lines, and a womens magazine, cosmpolitan, elle, preferrably not tabloid. Next I would start to look at what the pictures are saying about a given gender. I.E in the mens magazing what is the picture saying about how women should be, and what does the pictures of a half naked women say about the gender role of men. just an idea

where can i get any good free magazines or really cheap subscriptions to like people, entertainment, playboy?

Is there any way to get old magazines in a subscription?

Posted on November 21st, 2009 by admin in cheap magazines | 1 Comment »

I’m looking to get magazines cheaper because I would be wanting old/used magazines? Does anyone know where I could do this? Any websites? Catalogs? Any suggestions? Mags can be expensive sometimes. I like the Marie Claire/Cosmopolitan/Celeb Mags..

Go to any Doctor’s office and ask for the ones they are going to throw away.
