Cheap magazine subscriptions for Canadians?

Posted on September 26th, 2009 by admin in cheap magazine subscriptions | 1 Comment »

I’ve seen on sites like Ebay that magazine subscriptions are available at super discounted prices, but the offer is only valid to residents of the US. Is there any sites that offer discounted subscription prices to us canucks?

Here’s a link to your Canadian subscriptions. Click ‘Canadian List’ on the top bar. May God have mercy on your soul. .

How to cancel accidental magazine subscription?

Posted on September 26th, 2009 by admin in magazine subscription | 2 Comments »

I was entering a contest to win tickets to a concert that Seventeen Magazine was giving away. I forgot to click the "If you’d prefer to enter the sweepstakes without starting a trial subscription to Seventeen or if you are already a subscriber click here" part and entered the contest, and now I’m subscribed to them. My mom will kill me if she finds out she has to pay for something I didn’t even ask her about first. What do I do?

Do you still have the confirmation email they sent? If you click on "My Account", you can easily process a cancellation. You can also return to their site and log in to your account that way to cancel. If it gets to the point where you get a paper bill, write "CANCEL" across the front of it and send it back. You won’t have to pay anything.

What’s the difference between Ski Magazine and Skiing Magazine?

Posted on September 26th, 2009 by admin in magazine | 5 Comments »

I love to ski, and I subscribed to ski magazine last year. Now that it’s time to re-subscribe, I’m curious about Skiing magazine. What is the difference in content between the two magazines? Do they have a slightly different focus?

Both magazines currently cater to roughly the same target demographic. I get a free subscription to Skiing but haven’t bought Ski in years.

Both magazines change their format to meet current trends quite often. Skiing’s current focus leans towards Big Mountain and Freestyle skiing, but quite often has some well written long articles about a certain resort or a skiing personality. They also tend to lean toward short, quick one-page pieces in the "Inside Line" and "Get Schooled" sections. This is good because if you are an anal-retentive mofo like me, you can tear out one of these pages and put it into a sheet protector and file it in a 3-ring binder for future reference. Skiing also has (usually) the final section devoted to the East. (The "East Scene") So us idiots in New England and the Mid-Atlantic can read something and say…"Wow. I can actually afford to go THERE and not have to buy a plane ticket and call off work for a week."

Backcountry magazine is another option of you are a telemarker/alpine touring skier.

N’East focuses on lots of sports, but does some seriously great articles and photo spreads on snowsports in the Northeast.

(Just throwing out some other mags…I don’t want to sound like a Skiing magazine flunkie.)

A guy buys a magazine with a 25% discount. He pays 24$. How much is the magazine without the 25% discount?

please show work. i want to better understand how to solve this kind of question. thanx

$32. After the discount, the buyer is paying 75% of the list price. Algebraically, $24 = 0.75 L, where L is the list price. This is easily solved.

What shrubs can I grow in a pot indoors? I see pictures of them in home magazines but am unsure what they are

Posted on September 26th, 2009 by admin in home magazines | 1 Comment »

The Lavendar Shrub is pretty and easy to grow inside. Here are some others as well:

- Scrub Palmetto, Sabal etonia
- Weeping Fig Ficus benjamina: one of the hardiest of the indoor plants

Also, certain plants are excellent in ridding the air of pollutants and toxins. Plants that rate highly as an indoor purifier include: Chinese evergreen, Areca palm, Reed palm, Dwarf date palm, Boston fern, Janet Craig dracaena, English ivy, Australian sword fern, Peace Lily and Rubber plant (in adition to the ones I listed above).

Posted on September 26th, 2009 by admin in magazines | 3 Comments »

In movies and TV shows there is always girls reading magazines on how to flirt with guys and such, but in reality it seems like there really isn’t many magazines like that. There’s seventeen but that’s all that comes to mind. Do you know of any others?
