Why are magazine subscriptions so cheap? 1 or 2 year subscriptions come at 60-80% off the cover price? I know there must be some catch involved. These companies don’t sell at such a big discount for no reason!

Basically a magazine is a big advertisement. The ads pay for the magazine and what you end up paying is the profit. In stores you have a couple middle men so the price is set, but if you order directly its cheaper because they don’t have to let anyone else have their cut.

I’ve heard that there some shops in China who can make dresses based on photos from magazines, and you can also choose the fabric. Does anyone know specifically which part of China and also provide any shop names? Or in Bangkok? Thanks!

If the magazine pictures are designer clothes then you can find it in some online designer clothes shop.

Well when I was nine I used to get Discovery Girls magazine! It was appropriate and fun! She’ll like it.

Can anyone tell me how the hinged floor plate magazine works on some of the Remington model 700’s? Since it is an upgrade to the detachable magazine, I’m assuming its all one piece? If anyone has any pictures of this gun with this type of magazine that would be appreciated as well.

Inside the trigger guard (towards the front) is a button that, if pressed, will release the "trap door" floorplate. It actually opens sort of violently since it is under spring pressure. Anyway, that floorplate has a spring attached to it (in the form of a folded piece of flat springy metal) that is connected to the follower.

In function, it works exactly like a detachable magazine, except that it is not detachable, and that it can be unloaded from the bottom. I am partial to floorplates because they are flat and smooth, and therefore less cumbersome. Of course, they have a much more limited capactiy. My Remington 700 CDL can only hold four 7mm Rem Mag, and that includes one in the chamber. Enough to hunt with, of course, but if you’re looking for some other applications a larger capacity would be desired.

I’ll try to take some pictures of mine when I get home and find a way to post them.

I am not sure if I am allowed to post the name of my site here. I sell velvet hangers for a lot less than the competition on my site www.Hangershop.com but I am having trouble driving traffic to the site. If I started to advertise in print do you think that would drive traffic to my site?

You are probably better off advertising on line. I don’t know how many people really check out all the advertisements in the magazines. You need customers who are looking online for the stuff they need, so you gotta advertise where the customers are.
I usually forget the names of websites that I see in print. But if there is a link on line…. I just go right to the website.

I am trying to play a prank on a friend and I want to sign him up for a bunch of free magazine subscriptions. I used to know of a website that allowed me to do it all at once but I no longer can find the URL.

I don’t know any that let you sign up for several at once.

If you are in the US read the respectable online newspaper like the New York Times online. Ask someone what the most respectable newspaper is where you live and read that.

The New York Times online has some of the best reporters in the US and you can get everything from news to lifestyle and opinion all on the same site.

The more you read, the more you will get a feel for the style and start to understand how a newspaper article is written.
